THINK..... that snack!!!
I) A piece of fruit with a string cheese stick. Kids love to “peel” the cheese apart.
2) Slices of hard-boiled egg with crackers and thin cucumber slices. Stack up the slices.
3) A plate of crackers with cracker-size slices of cheese and apples. Kids can make “sandwiches” with any two or all three of the items.
4) Graham crackers with peanut butter and a glass of non-fat milk.
5) Sweet ‘n spicy popcorn. Air-pop popcorn. To put on top, mix a little melted butter with some honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg or cumin.
6) Pita bread with hummus (chickpea dip).
7) A tortilla rolled around some cheese, lettuce and salsa.
8) A handful of nuts and dried fruit.
9) Baby carrots and pretzels to dip in a yogurt-based dip.
10) Popcorn with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.
11) A frozen banana. (Take the peel off before freezing)
12) Microwaved apple or pear with cinnamon on top. Slice a piece of fruit, sprinkle with cinnamon and microwave for approximately 40 seconds.
13) Take one serving of low-fat plain yogurt and mix about a tsp. of honey in. Add some sliced banana. Sprinkle some of your favorite (unsweetened) ready to eat cereal on top.
14) Microwave a potato and put a little grated cheese and low-fat plain yogurt on top. Try adding salsa too.
15) A dish of instant oatmeal made with some fresh, chopped apple added in.
